Recipe in Arabic: بطبوط

Batbout is a golden and fluffy Moroccan bread. It is similar to Melwi but thicker. It is best serverd with butter and honey. This type of bread is also called: Mkhamer, or toghrift. The recipe is very easy to make and should not take a long time to prepare. Simply follow these steps:


Ingedients

  • ½ kg of wheat flour
  • 200 grams of white flour
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of yeast
  • 2 cups of warm water

Preparation

  1. Mix wheat flour, white flour, salt, yeast and gradually add water
  2. Knead the mixture until you get a smooth texture
  3. Form a medium sized ball out of the dough and flatten it
  4. Place it in a plate and cover it and let it ferment for 30 minutes
  5. Preheat a frying pan and add the dough for 5 min on medium heat
  6. After 5 min or so flip the batbout to the other side
  7. Serve it on a plate with olive oil, butter and honey

You can slightly change the above ingredients and preparation for Batbout to match your needs and taste.
